PORTO KANAKI - PACHIA AMMOS

EASTERN CRETE - PACHIA AMMOS  - PORTO KANAKΙ

 

In eastern Crete, on the road between Agios Nikolaos and Ierapetra
(26 km from Agios Nikolaos and 12km from Ierapetra) there is a small fishing village called Pachia Ammos .

It is a quiet village with 600 inhabitants , mainly engaged in agriculture (olives), fishing and little tourism. The climate of the village (warm winters and cool summers) is very good and is a key reason for many Northern European  to  chose  it as a permanent residence. Many even have bought permanent homes, others rent homes or live long enough during the year in small hotels and rooms available in the surrounding area.
The village is at the heart of Eastern Crete (the most dry climate   in the Eastern Mediterranean region) and for this can be regarded as a reference point from where it can be beamed somebody to visit several interesting sites  there are around, such as Canyons:

 In  the seaside of village there  is a very nice beach area by  fine or coarse sand and pebbles , where everyone can enjoy a swim to make  sunbathing   and then visit the beach shops especially  the famous tavern Porto Kanaki where locals and foreigners , as well as and those who go to Sitia, Ierapetra, Agios Nikolaos and other surrounding areas , stop to enjoy fresh fish, local and traditional dishes, coffee or a drink, always under the supervision of the wonderful owner and chef
